As you will be aware, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are currently facing unprecedented times, which has resulted in a vast number of visitors to Cornwall with many holiday homes being fully booked until October/ November 2021.
Whilst this is great news for our clients, we are facing much-increased levels of waste that we are removing from holiday homes, pubs, and restaurants. The sheer amount of waste we need to collect has increased by the fact that visitors, as well as people already resident in Cornwall, are venturing out since the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions...
Unfortunately, the recycling company we use to dispose of the waste have now restricted our delivery times on Thursdays to Saturday (inclusive) due to Covid-19 restrictions they have enforced for staff. This has resulted in an increased demand on our trucks, and we risk overloading our storage capacity if we do not make some adjustments to our own processes. The recycling company have also, very recently, implemented new reduced opening hours in relation to weekend work, which has meant that they close four hours earlier than the time we operate until. Which, in turn, has also contributed to the overloading of our storage capacity, and demand on our trucks.
As part of your contract with us, we have always promised to collect any waste on your changeover day or a day that we had agreed at the start of the contract. However, now we have reached the peak of the season, it is likely with increased visitors to the county, and further easing of Covid-19 restrictions, that bins are going to be extremely full. Even after collection takes place, there is a risk that housekeepers will need to leave further waste for collection following the cleaning of your properties.
We are going to keep collections on the usual days as agreed with you however, there is a risk that we may not be able to meet our usual timings due to the reasons set out above. If we are unable to collect your waste on our agreed days, please be assured that we will do our utmost to collect any waste within 24 - 36 hours of your normal collection day.
In the circumstances, we would ask for your patience and understanding. We always strive to provide the highest level of service and would never intentionally leave bins full of rubbish at times when we would normally clear them. We will service your properties with the same commitment and care as always but just wanted to make you aware of some possible slight delays to our service.
If it is helpful, we can deliver to your agent or housekeeper some small, laminated notices explaining the situation to guests. This will make sure your guests are also aware of the situation and includes a number that your housekeeper or guests can call should they have any concerns regarding the waste.
